Collector Unit Components: What's Included

When ordering replacement collector components for your Cyclone Rake, it's important to know exactly what comes with each package. This article clarifies what's included with different collector unit purchases.

Aftermarket Collector Unit Complete

If you purchase an Aftermarket Collector Unit Complete for the Commander, Commercial PRO, XL, or Z-10, your package will include:

  • Collector frame

  • Collector bag (with new top screen)

  • Side tubes

  • Top brace

  • Extender brackets

  • Vinyl inserts

Important Note: The Classic model Collector Unit Complete does NOT include extender brackets, as this model doesn't use them in its design.

Replacement Collectors (Bags) for All Models

When purchasing just a replacement collector (bag) for any Cyclone Rake model, your package will include:

  • Collector bag

  • Top screen

  • Vinyl inserts for the neck and rear

These replacement collectors contain all the fabric components you need to refresh your existing collector unit while using your current frame hardware.

Commander Bag Upgrade Kit (#03-03-303)

If you have a Classic (or 200 Gallon Capacity Collector bag) and would like to upgrade to a larger capacity, the Commander Bag Upgrade Kit includes:

  • Commander Bag (285 Gallon Capacity)

  • Extender Brackets

  • 42" Top Brace Bar

  • 2 Torpedo inserts (for side tube installation)

This upgrade provides more capacity and easier dumping compared to the Classic model's bag.

FAQ

What are the white insertion plugs for?

The white insertion plugs help slide the collector frame tubes into the bag. Use one plug at a time for each tube, then discard them after installation.

When did the collector bags change to large replaceable top screens?

The large, replaceable top screens were introduced in Fall 2016. These updated screens feature a single, all-purpose design to provide improved airflow.

When did the top screen change from a zipper to Velcro on the front edge?

  • In May 2009, the Commander, Commercial Pro, and XL models switched from a zipper to Velcro.

  • The Classic model followed with the same change in September 2009.

  • The Z-10 was always built with 4-sided Velcro from the start.

What’s the difference between the leaf (fall) and grass (spring) top screens?

The difference is in the hole size.

  • Grass screen: Larger holes (about 1/4 inch)

  • Leaf screen: Slightly smaller holes (about 3/8 inch)

Some can still be purchased individually, but new collector bags now come with a large, all-purpose top screen that works great for both leaves and grassβ€”and offers improved airflow.

What is the purpose of the metal grate or steel frame (#01-01-506) for the top screen?

The metal grate helps keep older removable leaf screens flat to maintain airflow and reduce clogging. It's attached using Velcro or a zipper, depending on your collector’s age. Newer collector bags with the larger, all-purpose top screen do not require the metal grate.

Can I swap collector bags between different Cyclone Rake models?

Collector Bags are designed to match the specific dimensions of each Cyclone Rake model, so they aren’t interchangeable. For example, a larger 415-gallon Commercial Pro Bag won’t fit on a Classic or Commander due to chassis and exit chute differences. Likewise, smaller 200- or 285-gallon bags can’t be used on larger models like the Commercial PRO, XL, or Z-10. Converting a unit like the Commander to accommodate a larger bag would require too many component changes and isn’t recommended. If you're considering a larger unit, we’d be happy to help with current model and pricing info!
