The J-hooks are critical components that connect your Cyclone Rake collector to the chassis. Installing them in the correct orientation is essential for proper operation and to prevent frustration during assembly.
When mounting your J-hooks, always ensure that:
The curved end of the J-hook faces toward the front of the unit (toward the mower)
The open end faces toward the back of the collector
If the J-hooks are installed incorrectly (facing backward), you won't be able to properly lower the collector onto the chassis frame. This is one of the most common assembly issues we hear about, but it's easily corrected.
For a visual guide to proper J-hook orientation:
Refer to pages 9 and 10 in your Owner's Manual for step-by-step installation instructions
Check Figure 10 on page 11, which clearly demonstrates how to lower the collector unit onto the chassis' hinge blocks when the J-hooks are correctly installed
Taking a moment to verify your J-hooks are facing the right direction will save you time and make the rest of your assembly process go much more smoothly.
