Proper Storage and Maintenance Tips for Your Cyclone Rake

Prev Next

Proper storage and regular maintenance are essential for your Cyclone Rake's performance and longevity. Follow these guidelines to keep your equipment in excellent condition year-round.

Daily Maintenance:

  • Remove all leaves, debris, and dirt from the collector bag

  • Clean the impeller housing thoroughly

  • Clear any debris from hoses and connections

  • Ensure all components are dry before storage

Routine Maintenance Checks:

Check Bolts & Fittings

The Cyclone Rake is subject to heavy vibrations during operation. Take a few seconds each time you set up to check that all bolts and fittings are tight. If anything has loosened, tighten it. If you sense unusual vibration during use, immediately stop both engines (mower and Cyclone Rake) to make sure all parts are secure. This will prevent damage to and/or losing parts on your Cyclone Rake, and is especially important during your first few uses.

Maintaining the Latches

We recommend lubricating all of the latches on your Cyclone Rake with WD-40 at least once every six months. One quick spray will suffice, be careful not to over-lubricate.

Cleaning the Collector Top Screen

The top screen on the collector bag should be kept clear for proper venting. Brush occasionally with a stiff-bristle brush. A long handle nylon brush is the best tool, and we recommend cleaning the inside of the top screen as well.

Pre-Storage Inspection:

  • Check hoses for signs of wear or damage

  • Inspect the impeller for any irregularities

  • Examine the collector bag for tears or worn areas

  • Test all moving parts for proper operation

Winterization Steps:

  • Apply lubricant to all moving parts and latches

  • Clean and dry all components thoroughly

  • Fold collector properly to prevent stress on materials

  • Elevate the collector bag off the ground during storage

Ideal Storage Location:

  • Choose a dry, covered area like a garage or shed

  • Keep away from direct sunlight

  • Ensure adequate ventilation

  • Consider using the wall-mount storage option

Pest Prevention:

  • Elevate the collector bag off the ground

  • Apply WD-40 around storage area to deter mice

  • Regularly check for signs of pest activity

  • Keep storage area clean and organized

Following these storage and maintenance guidelines will help ensure your Cyclone Rake remains in optimal condition and ready for use whenever you need it.
