Troubleshooting Low Suction with Your Extension Hose

Prev Next

If you're experiencing little to no suction with your Power Vacuum Pickup or Estate Vacuum extension hose, don't worryβ€”this is a common issue with simple solutions. Here's how to get your Cyclone Rake back to peak performance.

Common Causes of Poor Extension Hose Suction

When your extension hose isn't providing the powerful suction you expect, the problem typically comes down to one of these three issues:

  • Engine not at full throttle - The Cyclone Rake needs maximum power to create proper suction

  • System blockage - Debris can build up anywhere in the vacuum path

  • Hose configuration - Sharp bends and excessive twists restrict airflow

Quick Fixes to Restore Suction

1. Check Your Engine Throttle

Make sure your throttle control is set all the way to the "rabbit" position (full throttle). The Cyclone Rake's vacuum system needs maximum engine power to work effectively.

2. Inspect for Clogs

Examine the entire vacuum path for blockages:

  • Start at the vacuum wand opening

  • Check the full length of the extension hose

  • Inspect the connection points between hoses

  • Look at the blower unit inlet

  • Check the exit chute to the collector bag

  • Examine the neck of the collector bag for debris buildup

3. Straighten Your Hose

Keep the extension hose as straight as possible during operation:

  • Avoid sharp turns or bends

  • Reduce the number of curves in the hose path

  • Position yourself to work with a more direct line to the Cyclone Rake

4. Regular Maintenance

To prevent future suction problems:

  • Clean your hoses after each use

  • Check connection points for proper sealing

  • Ensure latches are secure at all connection points
