Can the Cyclone Rake Be Used for Grading Roads?

Prev Next

We occasionally hear from customers who wonder if their Cyclone Rake might help with gravel road maintenance or grading. While it's an innovative thought, the Cyclone Rake is designed with a specific purpose in mind.

The Cyclone Rake Is Not Designed for Gravel or Road Grading

The Cyclone Rake is specifically engineered for collecting organic yard debris:

  • Leaves

  • Grass clippings

  • Pine needles

  • Small twigs and similar soft organic matter

Why Gravel and Cyclone Rakes Don't Mix

Using your Cyclone Rake with gravel or for road grading would cause several problems:

  • Gravel is highly abrasive and will quickly wear down internal components

  • The impeller and vacuum system aren't designed for heavy, hard materials

  • Rocks and gravel can damage the Miracle Impeller and blower housing

  • The collector bag isn't designed to hold heavy materials like gravel

  • Such use would likely void your warranty

Protecting Your Investment

To keep your Cyclone Rake performing at its best for years to come:

  • Use it only for its intended purposeβ€”collecting organic yard debris

  • Avoid areas with significant amounts of gravel, stones, or similar materials

  • When cleaning areas near gravel, set your mower deck higher to avoid pulling up stones
