If your deck hose seems shorter than expected, here are some helpful adjustments you can try before requesting a replacement:
Quick Fixes
Try a partial connection: The deck hose doesn't need to be fully threaded into the collars. Gently pull it out slightly to gain extra length while maintaining a secure connection.
Check your hitch fork assembly: Sometimes adjusting the hitch fork assembly can bring your Cyclone Rake closer to your mower, effectively giving you more hose length to work with.
Allow for natural stretching: New hoses may need time to relax after being packed for shipping. Letting the hose sit in a warm area (like a sunny spot in your garage) for a day can help it expand to its full length.
Important Note About Hose Extensions
Weβre often asked if it's possible to splice two deck hose sections together to make a longer length. Unfortunately, thatβs not an optionβwe donβt offer couplings for connecting two standard deck hoses. The only time a connection like this is possible is when using one of our specially designed extension hoses, like the Power Vacuum Pickup (PVP), which comes with its own hardware.
If your deck hose has broken, the best solution is to replace it with a new one to ensure you get the right fit and performance. You can choose between the green PVC hose or the yellow Urethane hoseβboth work with the Cyclone Rake, so it comes down to your preference for durability and flexibility.
Still Having Issues?
If after trying these adjustments your deck hose:
Still feels too short
Keeps disconnecting from the collars
Doesnβt reach comfortably between your mower and Cyclone Rake
Take a few photos of your setup and contact our Technical Support team. We'll evaluate whether a longer hose might be needed based on your mower model and hitch setup.
