One of the most innovative features of the Cyclone Rake is our unique dual-pin hitch system. This design offers significant advantages over traditional ball hitches and is a key factor in the Cyclone Rake's exceptional performance and reliability.
The Dual-Pin Hitch Advantage
The Cyclone Rake connects to your mower with our specially designed dual-pin hitch that attaches at two points on the rear of your mower. This creates several important benefits:
Prevents jackknifing: Unlike single-point ball hitches, our dual-pin design makes it impossible for the Cyclone Rake to jackknife behind your mower when backing up, giving you greater control and maneuverability.
Creates a rigid mount: The two-point connection establishes a solid, stable link between your mower and the Cyclone Rake, ensuring consistent performance even on uneven terrain.
Enables optimal airflow: Perhaps most importantly, this design allows for the shortest, straightest path for your deck hose. This significantly reduces the risk of clogs that commonly occur with the long, winding hoses used in other systems.
Reduces wear and tear: The rigid mounting reduces stress on both your mower and the Cyclone Rake, extending the life of both pieces of equipment.
Hitch Construction and Design
Our standard hitch bars are constructed from 1/4" low carbon steel for durability and longevity. We offer several different angle configurations to accommodate various mower designs:
90-degree hitches: Our most common configuration, suitable for many standard riding mowers
80-degree hitches: Designed for specific mower models with slightly angled rear plates
70-degree hitches: Accommodates mowers with more pronounced rear angles
55-degree hitches: Specialized for certain mower designs
Each hitch comes complete with all necessary hardware for installation.
Hitch Compatibility
We've designed our hitch system to be compatible with virtually any riding mower or tractor:
We offer dozens of different hitch configurations to accommodate hundreds of different mowers
All of our hitches maintain the crucial dual-pin design
Zero-turn mowers are fully compatible with our system
Class 2 and Class 3 hitch receivers can be adapted to work with the Cyclone Rake
Important Note: The correct hitch for your Cyclone Rake depends entirely on your specific mower make and model. You must know your exact mower information before ordering a hitch to ensure proper fit and function.
Hitch Pricing and Availability
Standard hitches: All of our standard hitches are included with a new Cyclone Rake order at no additional cost. These cover the vast majority of mower makes and models.
3-point hitch adapter: The 3-point hitch is the most expensive and complex hitch we make and, as such, is not offered for free with a Cyclone Rake purchase. Due to the cost structure and complexity of this specialized hitch, it is available for an additional fee.
Replacement and Additional Hitches
If you need to purchase a replacement hitch or an additional hitch for another mower, you can do so directly through our website. However, we strongly recommend contacting our customer service team first or use our New Tractor Setup to confirm the correct hitch for your specific mower model, as selecting the wrong hitch could result in compatibility issues.
Remember: Because we have many different hitches designed for specific mowers, you must know your exact mower make and model before ordering. This ensures you receive the correct hitch for your equipment.
Hitch Installation
Most of our hitches can be installed with basic tools in about 30 minutes. Each hitch comes with detailed instructions. For more information on our hitches, visit Everything You Need to Know About Your Cyclone Rake Hitch
Common Hitch Questions
Do you offer a ball hitch attachment?
No, we don't offer a ball hitch attachment. While ball hitches might seem like a simpler solution, they would compromise the Cyclone Rake's performance and reliability. Ball hitches create a pivot point that allows jackknifing when backing up and require longer, more circuitous hose routing that significantly increases the risk of clogs.
What if I have a 3-point hitch on my tractor?
We have a solution for that too! We offer 3-point hitch adapters that allow you to connect your Cyclone Rake while maintaining all the benefits of our dual-pin system. This adapter is available for an additional fee due to its complex design and manufacturing requirements.
How do I know which hitch will fit my mower?
Finding the right hitch is easy. Simply let us know the specific make and model of your mower or use our New Tractor Setup, and we can identify the correct hitch for your setup. Our customer service team is always ready to help you find the perfect match for your equipment.
