Understanding Engine Gear Reduction in Your Cyclone Rake
Some Cyclone Rake owners have questions about gear reduction oil for their engines. We're happy to clarify that the Briggs & Stratton engines used in Cyclone Rake products do not utilize gear reduction technology, so there's no need to worry about changing or maintaining gear reduction oil.
While you might notice what appears to be a port for gear reduction oil on some of our engines, this port should remain sealed as our engines don't use this feature. This is one less maintenance item you'll need to worry about when caring for your Cyclone Rake.
For those curious about what gear reduction actually is: a reduction gear is an arrangement by which an input speed can be lowered for a requirement of slower output speed, while maintaining the same or more output torque. The reduction gear assembly typically consists of a set of rotating gears connected to a wheel fork.
Though some Briggs & Stratton engines in other applications might use this feature, the engines we use in our Cyclone Rake products do not incorporate gear reduction technology, eliminating the need for additional maintenance in this area.
