FAQ

Can I switch from a 4-blade impeller to a 5-blade impeller?

Yes! If your Cyclone Rake currently uses a yellow 4-blade impeller, you can upgrade to the orange 5-blade impeller. These impellers are designed to be interchangeable, and the orange 5-blade impeller provides approximately 25% more suction power.

For Cyclone Rakes with a 7-inch housing, we have a helpful video that demonstrates how to fit the orange 5-blade impeller. How to Install a 5 Blade Impeller

What should I expect when turning the impeller by hand?

When checking your impeller by hand, here's what you should know:

  • You should feel some resistance when turning it counterclockwise

  • Always disconnect the spark plug before attempting to turn the impeller (this is a crucial safety step)

  • If you don't feel any resistance, check for the impeller bolt - if it's missing, the shaft key could come out, which would affect the impeller's movement

What's included with a replacement impeller?

Individual impeller kits include:

  • The impeller itself

  • Necessary hardware and tools for installation

  • Detailed instructions for making the replacement

If you purchase a complete blower replacement kit instead, it comes with the impeller already installed inside the housing, along with instructions for attaching it to your engine.

When did Cyclone Rake start selling impellers separately?

We began offering standalone replacement impellers on January 30, 2017. This provides a more economical and practical option for customers who don't need to purchase an entire blower rebuild kit. Each replacement impeller comes with detailed instructions to help you make the replacement yourself.
