Everything You Need to Know About Your Cyclone Rake Mower Deck Adapter

Your Mower Deck Adapter (MDA)β€”which you might call a boot or chuteβ€”is an essential part that connects your Cyclone Rake to your mower deck. Knowing exactly which MDA you've got helps you quickly locate the right installation instructions and ensures a perfect fit.

Identifying Your MDA Size and Model

Cyclone Rake MDAs come in three different sizes (7", 8", and 10") designed for specific Cyclone Rake models:

  • 8" Green MDA (Part# 230) – For the Cyclone Rake Commander and Commercial PRO

Reading Your MDA Part Number

Your MDA’s part number provides key information about your specific adapter:

  • Base Numbers: Look for 206, 230, 240, or 260 at the beginning of the part number.

  • Letter Suffix: The letter at the end (e.g., 206A, 230B) indicates the MDA type designed for your mower brand and model.

  • "A" Prefix: If your part number starts with an "A" (e.g., A206), it means the MDA was purchased separately as an aftermarket accessory.

  3. Click on your specific MDA type to open the instructions in a new tab

  4. Once opened, you can view the instructions online, download the PDF, or print a copy for your convenience

This easy access ensures you have the exact guidance you need for your particular MDA model.

Pre-Cut vs. Uncut MDAs

We offer both pre-cut and uncut MDA options:

  • Pre-Cut MDAs – Designed for mower decks with unusual or complex openings that are difficult to modify at home.

  • Uncut MDAs – Provided for mower decks with standard rectangular openings, allowing you to cut a custom fit for your specific mower.

πŸ”§ Why Does This Matter?
Even if two mower decks look similar, small variations can affect how an MDA fits. Cutting your own uncut MDA often results in the best, most precise fit for your mower model.

FAQ

What type of blade do I need to cut the MDA?

Use a blade designed for thin metal with 17/24 TPI (teeth per inch) Follow the tracing guidelines included with your MDA instructions for best results

What does it mean if my mower deck is out of range or if I have to modify it?

This means your mower deck opening is larger than our standard MDA boots can fully cover. You'll need to block off a portion of the opening to prevent debris from escaping and ensure optimal performance.

Why do I have to drill holes in my mower deck, especially with a custom MDA?

We do everything possible to make your installation as seamless as possible. Unfortunately, even with our custom MDAs designed for specific manufacturers and deck types, there are too many variations between individual mower decks to provide pre-drilled holes for all models.

How much slack should be in the hose between the MDA and blower housing?

There should be minimal slack in the hose. We use the straightest, shortest length of deck hose possible on our Cyclone Rakes to avoid clogging. As long as your deck hose comfortably connects to your MDA and blower housing inlet, you'll see the best performance with a hose that is not bowed or bent. Here are 2 great videos that can help!
