Preventing Clogs in Your Cyclone Rake's Top Screen

Prev Next

Is your Cyclone Rake's top screen getting clogged or plugged up? This is a common issue, especially when working with wet or damp yard debris. Fortunately, there's a simple solution that can keep your Cyclone Rake running smoothly.

Why Top Screens Clog

The top screen on your collector bag can become clogged when:

  • Working with wet or damp leaves

  • Collecting material in dewy morning conditions

  • Vacuuming dense, sticky debris

  • Operating in high humidity

When the screen clogs, it restricts proper airflow, reducing your Cyclone Rake's performance and potentially causing the unit to bog down.

The Cooking Spray Solution

Our Tech Support team recommends a surprisingly simple fix: apply a light coat of cooking spray to your top screen. This creates a non-stick surface that helps prevent material from sticking and clogging the mesh.

Here's how to apply it:

  • Use any standard cooking spray (vegetable oil, canola oil, etc.)

  • Apply a very light mist to the inside surface of the top screen

  • Spread evenly with a cloth if needed

  • Avoid over-application that could cause build-up

Additional Prevention Tips

To further reduce clogging issues:

  • Regularly brush or clean the top screen between uses

  • Try to work with drier material when possible

  • Empty the collector bag before it gets too full

  • Make sure your engine is running at full throttle for maximum airflow
