Having trouble fitting your deck hose over the Mower Deck Adapter (MDA) collar? This is a common challenge during assembly, but we've got some simple solutions to make the process easier.
Video Installation Guide
For a visual walkthrough of the installation process, we've created a comprehensive video showing exactly how to install the deck hose on 7", 8", and 10" systems with our mower deck adapters. This video demonstrates the techniques described below and can be extremely helpful for first-time installations.'
Quick Installation Tips
Several techniques can help make your deck hose more flexible and easier to install:
Use a lubricant - Apply a small amount of soapy water around the outside of the MDA collar. This creates a slippery surface that helps the hose slide on with less resistance.
Warm the hose - Place the end of the deck hose in a bucket of warm (not hot) water for 3-5 minutes. This temporarily makes the hose material more pliable and easier to stretch over the collar.
Twist while pushing - Use a gentle twisting motion as you push the hose onto the collar rather than trying to force it straight on.
Gradual approach - Work the hose onto the collar bit by bit, moving around the circumference instead of pushing from just one side.
Installation Notes
It's normal for the deck hose to fit snugly over the MDA collarβthis creates a proper seal for maximum suction.
The deck hose doesn't need to be threaded all the way to the base of the collar to work properly. As long as it's secured with the band clamp, a partial connection is sufficient.
If your deck hose seems too short to reach between your mower and the Cyclone Rake, check that your hitch forks are installed in the correct configuration for your model.
